One of the more popular vehicles we sell at Faulkner-Ciocca Ford Mercury is the venerable Ford Mustang. While this model has existed for nearly five decades, the Mustang isn’t showing signs of its age. Instead, it remains a stylish and exciting vehicle that is as relevant today as it was when Ford first introduced it in 1964. Modern Mustangs have all of the features you want in a car but also provide a nod to tradition via a unique combination of current design sensibilities and the traditional styling that has made the Mustang such a popular vehicle during its 46-year history. Here are some facts you may not know about the Ford Mustang:

1. When Ford introduced the Mustang on April 17, 1964, at the New York World’s Fair, it was the company’s most successful launch since the Model A.

2. On the first day of release, Ford sold more than 22,000 Mustangs.

3. In the initial year of sales, Ford sold more than 400,000 Mustangs.

4. By its 40-year anniversary, Ford had produced nearly 8 million Mustangs.

5. The 1966 model was Ford’s best selling Mustang, and the 1991 model was its worst.

6. The first Ford Mustangs were either coupes or convertibles.

7. With the production of the Mustang, Ford created the “pony car” class of vehicles.

8. The Mustang is the only of the original “pony car” class to remain in continuous production since its inception.

9. Ford rolled out the first fastback version of the Mustang on October 1, 1964.

10. Mustang production hit the 1 million mark on February 23, 1966.
